Beware of utility scams targeting SRP customers
When in doubt, give us a shout: (602) 236-8888(602) 236-8888 (residential customers) or (602) 236-8833(602) 236-8833 (business customers), 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Be aware: Scam activity has increased!
To help you easily identify possible scams, here is a list of actions scammers might take that SRP will not.
- SRP does not accept payments through Zelle. We accept payments online through SRP My Account™, the SRP Power™ app and SRP M-Power® app, or through Paymentus. If you’d like to pay in person with cash, you can visit over 500 retail locations.
- SRP will not reach out and ask you to pay using specific methods. We may contact you directly about payments but will never request that you use a particular accepted payment method.
- SRP will not ask you to make an immediate payment. If you are at risk of power disconnection, SRP will always send you one or more notices by mail and, if you are enrolled in SRP eNotes™, by email. If we call to let you know that your power will be disconnected, we will not pressure you into paying over the phone.
Steps you can take to protect against scammers:
- If you receive a call from someone who says they are from SRP, HANG UP and call us directly at (602) 236-8888, even if your caller ID says the number they are calling from is SRP’s. Scammers can spoof any number, including ours, so even if it looks like a call is coming from SRP, it may not be.
- Always remember that we are here to help and available 24/7. If you have received a suspicious call, email or text or you have been impacted by a scam, please reach out to us at (602) 236-8888.
Remember the following:
- Before your power is disconnected, SRP will send you one or more notices in the mail.
- You can check your account status anytime in My Account or on the SRP Power App.
- Scams can occur in person, through email or by text. Stay vigilant.
If you feel you’ve been the target of a scam, contact your local law enforcement or the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.
Is it a scam?
Customers have reported receiving text messages with a scannable barcode to make payments. These texts are a scam! Although our new in-person payment options use a barcode, SRP will never send you a text with a barcode. Never make payments outside of the app, logging into your account online or through our new payment locations. In addition to this new scam, we have also received reports that customers are receiving calls stating that their bill is past due and they need to pay it immediately. As a reminder, SRP will never ask you to make an immediate payment.
No. To pay your bill, you must submit your payments directly to SRP. Please let us know if someone contacts you about this by calling (602) 236-8888(602) 236-8888 (residential) or (602) 236-8833(602) 236-8833 (business).
SRP will not call and demand payment for normal meter replacement. Do not pay. Hang up and call SRP at (602) 236-8888(602) 236-8888 (residential) or (602) 236-8833(602) 236-8833 (business) to determine if there is an issue with your meter.
Don't click on the link. If you did sign up to receive eBills, log in to My Account to view your bill or make a payment. Also, residential customers on most price plans can keep track of usage, bills and more through our free mobile app.
Do not let them in or pay. If your payment is past due, we do not collect payments in person. Our field employees cannot accept payment. If the person is claiming they need to perform repairs or upgrades, call us to confirm they are an employee. All employees wear SRP logo shirts, have an I.D. badge and will be driving a vehicle with an SRP logo.
We send out a reminder bill if the account becomes eligible for disconnection. In the event that SRP calls you about a past-due bill, we will not demand payment over the phone; instead, we will encourage you to pay through an approved channel such as My Account or the SRP Power mobile app. If you do choose to pay over the phone, we will recommend that you verify SRP's identity by hanging up and calling us back at our official phone number: (602) 236-8888(602) 236-8888.
SRP does have partnerships with some preferred residential solar installers, but we have learned of scammers pretending to be affiliated with this program. If you are interested in finding out more about solar for your home, please call SRP at (602) 236-4448(602) 236-4448. We can also connect you to contractors who can help determine the best solar option for your home if you’re ready to explore rooftop solar.
Unless you scheduled an appointment with SRP, no SRP employee will ask to enter a customer's home. SRP does not sell products or services door to door.
