Learn about the public pricing process

SRP's publicly elected Board of Directors considers changes to prices through a public pricing process. See how we make decisions in the best interest of our customers, the environment and the communities we serve.

What is the public pricing process?

On Dec. 2, 2024, SRP opened a public pricing process. Since that date, the publicly elected SRP Board reviewed proposed changes to SRP's price plans and offered customers the opportunity to provide feedback before making a decision.

The Board officially approved changes to SRP’s price plans on Feb. 27, 2025. The approved changes will take effect in the November 2025 billing cycle, which for many customers begins sometime in October 2025. Impacts of the approved changes will vary by customer, price plan and usage.

Read on to see the changes to price plans and prices that the Board has approved.

How SRP establishes electricity prices

SRP is a political subdivision of the State of Arizona, and our price process is not governed by the Arizona Corporation Commission. Our publicly elected Board of Directors has the authority to establish electricity prices.

The Board reviews and decides on any proposed changes to SRP's standard electric price plans after providing notice to customers and offering them the opportunity to provide their feedback.

How the Board decides on prices

These are the principles the Board follows when making pricing decisions:

Icon

Cost relation

Prices need to reflect the cost of service.
Icon

Sufficiency

Prices must enable SRP to recover the costs needed to maintain SRP's financial health.
Icon

Gradualism

Changes should be evolutionary, not revolutionary (so as to avoid large price adjustments).
Icon

Equity

Customers should pay their share of the costs SRP incurs on their behalf.
Icon

Choice

Pricing options should be provided to help customers manage their energy costs.

Public outreach

SRP conducted two open houses and several public board meetings. We invited customers to attend and share feedback.

See key meeting dates and locations below.
